About the Project

The goal was to create a comprehensive digital health resource acting as the primary information hub for diabetes care in Bulgaria. Working closely with a UI Designer, the challenge was to translate a complex Figma design strategy into a responsive, accessible frontend. The implementation needed to organize a vast library of medical advice and administrative guidance into a patient-friendly experience while strictly adhering to the high-fidelity verification standards. The platform utilizes Drupal for robust content management, coupled with a custom HTML5, SCSS, and jQuery frontend to ensure typical CMS limitations didn't hinder the user experience. Key technical decisions included implementing a high-contrast 'Medical' aesthetic with prioritized typography for readability and a custom SCSS grid system for content-heavy pages. My role focused on the Frontend Architecture & UI Implementation: • Accessible Content UI: Implemented visual hierarchy for text-heavy medical articles and optimized typography for potential vision impairments. • Responsive Navigation: Built a mobile-first navigation menu handling deep nesting and implemented jQuery interactions for complex sections. • Directory Features: Developed frontend components for the search-friendly directory of patient associations and care centers. The result is a highly accessible platform that simplifies complex medical administration for patients, serving as a critical educational hub.
